Government & Institutional Review

A student-led initiative seeking expert guidance for responsible insurance awareness

RedoClaim is a free, independent AI-powered platform developed by Sarang Menon, a Class 10 student from Keralam, to help Indian policyholders better understand insurance policy documents, claim-rejection information and possible next steps. The project is being developed as a public-interest technology initiative. Sarang welcomes review and guidance from regulators, government bodies, consumer organisations, healthcare institutions, academics and insurance professionals to help make RedoClaim more accurate, responsible, accessible and useful.

Seeking expert and institutional feedback

We welcome the opportunity for institutions and experts to review RedoClaim, share their guidance, and help us continually improve its accuracy, responsibility and usefulness.

1. Our Objective

RedoClaim's objective is to improve insurance awareness and access to understandable information. It is not intended to determine whether an insurer is legally right or wrong, guarantee a claim outcome, or replace any official grievance or regulatory mechanism.

RedoClaim aims to help a policyholder move from:

“My claim was rejected. I don't understand why or what I can do.”

“I understand what my documents say, I know what information may be relevant, and I know where to seek appropriate further assistance.”

2. Why Institutional Review Matters

Insurance claims can involve policy wording, exclusions, waiting periods, Customer Information Sheets, claim documentation, regulatory requirements and formal grievance procedures. Because RedoClaim operates in this sensitive area, we actively welcome scrutiny and feedback from relevant institutions and professionals.

We particularly welcome independent guidance regarding:

  • Accuracy of insurance-related information
  • Appropriate use of regulatory sources
  • Explanation of grievance and escalation pathways
  • Responsible use of generative AI
  • Privacy and security of uploaded documents
  • Multilingual communication
  • Appropriate disclaimers and limitations
  • Situations where users should be directed to a human professional or official authority

3. What We Are Asking Institutions For

Guidance

Advice on presenting insurance and grievance information accurately and responsibly.

Technical Review

Feedback from AI, software, cybersecurity, NLP or information-retrieval experts.

Domain Review

Feedback from insurance, healthcare, consumer-protection or legal professionals.

Public-Awareness Collaboration

Exploring whether RedoClaim could serve as an additional voluntary awareness resource, where appropriate.

Pilot Programme

A small, measurable pilot with a suitable institution, if mutually agreed.

Mentorship

Connecting Sarang with experts who can help him improve the project as a student innovator.

Direction To The Right Channel

If another department, institution or programme is better suited, guidance toward the appropriate channel.

4. How RedoClaim Works

A policyholder can provide relevant documents such as:

  • Insurance policy
  • Customer Information Sheet (CIS)
  • Claim rejection letter
  • Other relevant claim documents

RedoClaim uses a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approach to analyse user-provided documents alongside its curated insurance and regulatory knowledge base. The objective is to produce understandable, source-supported information rather than a generic AI response.

AI Is Not The Final Authority

RedoClaim's output should be treated as AI-assisted information and analysis, not as a definitive legal, regulatory or insurance determination. Users should verify important information through the relevant insurer, IRDAI, Insurance Ombudsman where applicable, or an appropriate qualified professional.

The Six-Step Process

Upload→Extract→Retrieve→Analyse→Explain→Verify
1

Your Documents

Policy, CIS, rejection letter and other relevant documents.

2

Document Processing

Relevant text and information are extracted.

3

Knowledge Retrieval

Relevant policy and regulatory information is retrieved.

4

AI Analysis

The system compares the available information and generates an explanation.

5

Source-Supported Response

The user receives an understandable explanation with relevant references.

6

Human Or Official Verification

Users are directed to official channels when formal action is required.

RedoClaim output is AI-assisted information, not a legal, regulatory or insurance determination.

5. Privacy, Safety & Responsible Use

Insurance documents may contain sensitive personal, financial and health information. Responsible handling of such information is therefore a core consideration in RedoClaim's development.

We welcome independent review of our:

  • Document-handling architecture
  • Data-retention practices
  • Access controls
  • Security
  • Third-party services
  • AI-processing workflow
  • Privacy notices
  • Deletion mechanisms

6. Multilingual Accessibility

Insurance awareness should not depend on a person's ability to understand complex English-language policy documents. RedoClaim supports multilingual interaction and aims to make insurance information more accessible to people who are more comfortable communicating in Indian languages. We welcome review from language and insurance-domain experts to improve the accuracy and clarity of multilingual outputs.

7. Who We Welcome Review From

Government & Regulators

Insurance, consumer protection, healthcare, digital governance and public-interest technology bodies.

Healthcare Institutions

Hospitals, medical colleges, patient-support departments and insurance/TPA desks.

Consumer Organisations

Consumer-rights and insurance-literacy organisations.

Academia

AI/ML, NLP, cybersecurity, law, insurance, healthcare and public-policy researchers.

Student Innovation Ecosystem

Schools, innovation programmes, STEM organisations and mentors.

8. Possible Institutional Pilot

Where an institution considers RedoClaim appropriate, we would be happy to discuss a small, voluntary and measurable pilot designed together with the institution.

9. Institutions Would Not Be Asked To

  • Guarantee AI accuracy
  • Determine whether a claim should be approved
  • Recommend RedoClaim as a substitute for official procedures
  • Share patient information with Sarang
  • Analyse patients' claims
  • Pay for access
  • Provide commercial endorsement

The proposed role is simply to make an independent free awareness resource available to people who choose to use it, subject to the institution's own policies and approval.

10. Collaboration Principles

Independence

RedoClaim remains independently developed and operated.

Transparency

Institutional involvement will not be represented as endorsement unless formally granted.

No Guaranteed Outcomes

RedoClaim does not promise claim approval, reversal or compensation.

Official Pathways First

Users are directed to appropriate insurer, regulatory and grievance mechanisms.

Privacy

Institutional partners will not be asked to provide patient or policyholder information for ordinary awareness activities.

Human Escalation

Users are directed to appropriate professionals or authorities when human intervention is required.

11. About The Student Behind RedoClaim

Sarang Menon

Class 10 Student · Developer · AI/ML & STEM Innovator

Sarang is a student developer from Keralam with a strong interest in using technology to address real-world challenges and create practical solutions with social value. His interests span AI, machine learning, software development, data and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on projects that can improve access to information, support communities and make complex problems easier to navigate.

RedoClaim reflects this approach. It explores how AI, document analysis and retrieval-based systems can help policyholders better understand complex insurance information and identify appropriate avenues for further assistance.

Sarang is particularly interested in learning from domain experts and institutions and in developing technology that is not only technically useful, but also responsible, accessible and meaningful to the people it is designed to support.

12. Interested In Reviewing Or Collaborating?

We would be grateful to hear from organisations or professionals who can help Sarang make RedoClaim more accurate, responsible and accessible.

RedoClaim is an independent, student-developed AI tool. It is not a government service, regulator, insurer, hospital, legal service or insurance company.

Its output is intended to assist users in understanding documents and information and should not be treated as legal, financial or insurance advice.

RedoClaim does not guarantee claim approval, claim reversal, settlement or compensation.

Users should independently verify important information and use the appropriate official grievance and escalation mechanisms.
